Myers Court, QUAD‘s original community, was built in 1980 as a bold new model for barrier-free living. As the nation’s first independent living center not affiliated with a hospital or rehabilitation center, Myers Court received national attention for its pioneering design which predated the accessibility standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act by nearly a decade. Myers Court is located in the vibrant Williams Neighborhood of North Portland near Emanuel Hospital. Its facilities received a comprehensive remodel in 2002.
Myers Court Features:
Myers Court offers HUD Section 8 subsidies for low-income applicants, making rents a very affordable 30% of residents’ adjusted monthly income. A tenant who lives solely on SSI benefits of approximately $675.00 per month would pay rent of about $150.00 per month.
