Carrie

Carrie is a baker and soap maker from Portland, Oregon. During her childhood she was raised around the globe as a self-proclaimed ‘Army Brat.,’ attending school in Germany and graduating high school in Heidelberg. After moving back to the states, Carrie resided in many parts of the Portland area.

Quad is the longest place she has resided, almost nine years this fall! Carrie first heard about Quad when she was losing some of her mobility and getting around in her home became difficult, so she searched for places to live and found Quad. Carrie has secondary progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS), which is the most common diagnosis for people with MS and is not as progressive as primary progressive stage of MS. Carrie says Quad is a very accessible place to live, accommodating her disability.

Carrie’s favorite thing about living at Quad is the people she has met and all the friends she has made. Since Carrie enrolled in TriMet Lift with the help of our OSCI Community Health Worker, she has been doing many activities with other residents outside her building.
